January 2003 Creative Express Projects

This is one of those cards that would not scan in very well--the white velvet you know.  But, the card is very lovely "in person".  The saying is:  "Every snowflake brings to mind how special you are...you're one of a kind!!"

CEX 65  Snowflake Friendship

Stamps by:  (in order from left to right);  Azadi Earles; Posh Impressions; Simply Stamps;  Saying is computer generated but is available in stamp form from Darcies.

Supplies needed:

double stick tape or glue
dries clear adhesive

 Measurements
Both cards measure 5 x 11
Folded to 5 x 5 1/2

Instructions

1.  All snowflake images need to be placed on the support cardstock and then detailed trimmed.  ***We have a couple new people joining our program with this card, so this will be review for some of you.  If you have limited strength in your cutting hand, you may wish to trim each layer separately.  If strength is not a problem, you can peel the paper of off the Peel'n'Stick and stick the image to the cardstock.  At that point you will detail trim.  For a review of detail trimming, please refer to:   Velvet Embossing Instructions.  White velvet usually is placed onto white cardstock for "color support".  If you did not use the white cardstock, the blue would show through the snowflake.
2.  Tape or glue the main cards together so that the outer panels face inward (so that it would stand on a table).
3.  Start positioning the snowflakes.  Be sure to "play" with them so that you have them positioned for the "most shimmer".  When you like your placement, start attaching them.  All of these are flat, but you certainly could pop dot some if you would like.  (Boy, I can tell that I am not myself since I did not pop dot any of the snowflakes--).
4.  Tape or glue the saying on and then attach the two velvet snowflakes.
5.  Using a dries clear adhesive, glue on the snowflake buttons.  Allow to dry.

The hot pink behind the feathers is just there so that the feathers would scan in properly.

3.  Using pop dots, attach one heart with 1/16 inch dots and the other with 1/8 inch dots.
4.  Complete the inside of the card.
5.  Place a small piece of double stick tape or Peel'n'Stick onto the main card where the feathers will be.
6.  Arrange the feathers onto the tape.

8.  Using the dries clear adhesive, glue on the roses.  Allow to dry.

****Two notes about this card:

1)  It would be better if the main card was metallic cardstock.  However, we are out of that cardstock and in this little town we live in, if we don't have it--nobody does.  Many of you live in more populous areas and perhaps you could find (or even have in your own stash) metallic magenta cardstock.

2)  This is also a "living in a small town dilemma":  We did not have the "right color" of roses for this card.  So, we "dyed" our own.   To make your own custom roses, simply press the rose onto the ink pad!!  You must use the sheer fabric roses;  the more solid fabric does not work at all.  We thought this was pretty clever!

CEX 67  Gorilla Love Card

Stamps by:  Gorilla by Art Impressions;  Heart by Rubber Stampede;  Sayings by Darcies; Stamps by Judith; Azadi Earles.

Supplies needed:

double stick tape or glue
dries clear adhesive
tiny decorative scissors
(mini scallop/mini pinking)
colored pencils
pop dots;  1/16, 1/8, 1/4 inches

Measurements:

Main card:  10 3/4 x 12 1/4
Folds to:  6 1/8 x 10 3/4
Heart Panel:  6 x 10 1/2
White Panel:  4 5/8 x 9 1/4
Gingham Panel:  4 1/2 x 9
Rose/Flower Panel:  4 x  8 5/8

Instructions:

1.  Cut out gorilla.  Here is a trick that Marlean came up with several years ago:  When you are cutting out an animal, use a tiny decorative scissors on the "fur" areas.  That way you are not trying to weave in and out to achieve the fur look.  You also need regular scissors for the smooth areas.
2.  Color the gorilla (you know, we should name him--any suggestions?).
3.  All the hearts need to go onto the support cardstock and then be detailed trimmed.
4.  Layer the papers and cardstock onto the main card.
5.  Using the 1/8 inch pop dots, attach to gorilla to the main card.
6.  Tentatively, arrange your hearts to the desired positions.  When ready, use the variety of pop dots to attach the hearts.
7.  Complete the inside of the card.
8.  Using the dries clear adhesive, glue on the butterflies and the bow.  Allow to dry.
9.  Complete the envelope.

CEX 68  Elegant Heart Valentine

Stamps by:  Heart by Parked on Rubber; Just for You by Posh Impressions; other sayings by SonLight and The Stamp Pad.

Supplies needed:

Double-stick tape or glue
Dries clear adhesive
Pop Dots:  1/8; 1/16 inches
Purple marker

Instructions:

1.  First of all, we included the heart stamped both in purple and in black.  The card was put together completely stamped with black and then filled in with a purple marker.  The thought of stamping it in purple was a after-thought.  You need to decide which you prefer.
2.  The flower images all need to be placed on support cardstock then detail trimmed.  You may need to trim a little closer than normal at some places.
3.  Attach the leaves directly to the heart image.
4.  Using the pop dots, attach the flowers to the heart image.
5.  Trim the heart image leaving a small border.
6.  Layer the purple stock and heart image onto the main card.
7.  Complete the inside of the card.
8.  Using the dries clear adhesive, glue the rhinestones onto the main card.
