Creative Express Projects June 2003

As you can see by our set-up, we have been away from doing the CEX projects for way longer than expected.  But, we are back now!!  We are very excited and joyful to be "back in the groove" of CEX!!  And, a very special "thank you" to all of you who have been soooooooooooooooooo patient waiting for us!!

CEX 72  Rhinestone Wreath Card

Stamps by:  Wreath by DeNami;  Hearts and Flowers saying by The Stamp Pad;  other sayings by Ann-ticipations; Penny Black; and Stampendous!

Supplies needed:

double stick tape or glue
dries clear adhesive

Measurements

Main card:  8 1/2 x 11
Folded to 5 1/2 x 8 1/2
White panel:  5 x 8
Decorative panel:  4 3/4 x 7 3/4

Instructions:

1.  Detail trim the velvet wreath.  ***Please see Velvet Embossing Instructions if you are new to our program.
2.  Layer the panels onto the main card.
3.  Remove only half of the Peel'n'Stick from the back of the wreath.  Position the wreath onto the main card.  Then, remove the rest of the Peel'n'Stick and attach the rest of the wreath.  This is much easier than if you removed all the PNS at on time.
4.  Tape or glue on the front saying and the inside sayings.  There is plenty of paper included, so be sure to layer the inside as nicely as you did the outside.
5.  Using the dries clear adhesive, glue on the rhinestones.  Allow to dry.
6.  Color the envelope if desired.
Very simple--but very fun!!

CEX73  Tropical Paradise

Stamps by:  Rubber Stampede; Darcies; Azadi/Limited Edition; Ann-ticipations; Stampendous!

Supplies needed:

Double stick tape or glue
Dries clear adhesive
Lt. Blue ink pad (possibly a sponge)
Watercolor crayons, pencils, or watercolors
Colored pencils or markers
Pop Dots:  1/16, 1/8, 1/4

Measurements:

Main card:  11 1/4 x 17
Folds to 8 1/2 x 11 1/4
Blue Panel:  8 1/4 x 11
Scene Panel:  7 3/4 x 10 1/2

Instructions:

1.  Using your choice of "watercolor", color/paint the sea and the sand.
2.  Using the lt. blue ink pad (and sponge if needed), LIGHTLY sponge the sky.
3.  Using colored pencils or markers, color the sails on the boats.
4.  Allow this panel to dry thoroughly.
5.  Mount all images onto the supplied cardstock BEFORE you detail trim.  ****Unless you have limited strength in your cutting hand and would need to trim the layers separately.   ***Also, I mounted all the images onto the cardstock (I tend to automatically do that when I am creating a card.  Then, no matter how the final design comes together, I don't have to stop and mount on cardstock if I want to pop dot the image).  I digress for a moment--  Anyway, the sun and the tree trunk are not pop dotted at all and technically would not need to be mounted on cardstock.  You can decide.  Sometimes, when dealing with this many images, it is easier to put them all on the cardstock just for ease.
6.  Detail trim.
7.  Prep your inside sayings (do the cutting and the layering).
8.  Your front panel should be dry by now.  So, layer the blue panel and the scene panel onto the main card.
9.  Do your inside layering.
10.  Position velvet images as desired on the scene panel.  When you are ready, start attaching them with the various sizes of pop dots and double stick tape (or glue).  The sample card was done with:  sun and tree trunk are flat on the card;  the turquoise shell and the umbrella are on with the 1/16 pop dots;  the pink star and the sand dollar are on with 1/8 pop dots;  the palm leaves are on with 1/4 pop dots.  It is difficult to tell on the scene, but the dimension is very effective.
11.  Using the dries clear adhesive, glue on the accents.  Allow to dry.
12.  Color the envelope.
13.  I feel the need for a fancy cocktail with a fun little umbrella in it!!

This card was done with the teal velvet which I forgot does not scan in very well.  But, it is truly a gorgeous color in "person".  The very back sheet of blue is just to show how the skirt goes beyond the edges of the card.

CEX74  Velvet Bodice Card

Stamps by:  Bodice (and inside saying) by Stampendous!; Hanger (and inside saying, purse, hat, shoe) by Stamps by Judith; Outside saying by Penny Black.

Supplies needed:

Double stick tape or glue
dries clear adhesive
clothespins
pop dots:  1/16 inch

Measurements:

Main card 8 1/2  x 11
Folded to 5 1/2 x 8 1/2
Blue panel: 5 1/4 x 8 1/4
Stamped panel:  5 x 8

Instructions:

1.  Mount the bodice on support cardstock and detail trim.  ****Unless you have limited strength in your cutting hand and would need to trim the layers separately.
2.  Gather the one layer of tulle (I used the smaller plain white one) and glue (dries clear)  onto the bottom front of the bodice.  Use clothespins to hold it in place as it dries.
3.  Layer the panels onto the main card.
4.  Do your inside layering as well.
5.  Again, using the dries clear adhesive, glue on the roses and the rhinestones and allow to dry.
****I put this card together over the course of three days.  Be sure to allow enough time for drying especially with the tulle.
6.  Cut the enclosed piece of Peel'n'Stick in half.  Put one piece on the back of the bodice at the bottom.
7.  Gather the other layer of tulle and place it onto the Peel'n'Stick.
8.  Put the other half of the PNS onto the bottom of the bodice on top of the tulle and position onto the main card.
9.  Use the 1/16 inch pop dots to attach the top part of the bodice to the main card.  This gives you "some" dimension.
****To "gather" the tulle, I started by simply folding the "circle" in half.  At that point you can fold more if you wish.
***Also, if the directions ever do not make sense, please email and tell me so.  We certainly want to be very clear for you.

CEX75  Birdhouse 4th of July Card

Double stick tape of glue
Dries clear adhesive
Pop Dots:  1/4 inch

Measurements:
Main Card:  6 1/2 x 10 3/4

4.  Remove the PNS from the back of the birdhouse and position onto the main card.
5.  Using the pop dots, position the birds onto the main card.  ***Remember that the pop dots will NOT stick to the velvet.  So, the dots need to be on the paper of the main card.  Sometimes it is easier to put the dots down first and then put the image onto the dots.
6.  Complete the inside of the card.
7.  Using dries clear adhesive, glue the rhinestones and the buttons onto the velvet images.  Allow to dry.
